Adventures in Kansas

Larry and I spent almost two weeks in Kansas for a series of adventures. On Friday we flew to Denver and drove the rest of the way with "the other Balsmeiers." (John, Clara, and their kids: Abbi, Jake, and Isaac) This worked out well until the day we got back to Colorado. (explanation later in this post.)

Because I missed school, I had to do homework while we were gone...nevertheless, it was good to have somewhat of a vacation. It was great catching up with everyone...we don't get to see Larry's family very often.

The first Sunday there we went to the blessing of our newest niece, Kailyn. She was so beautiful in her blessing dress! I stole a picture off J's blog...the other pictures I'll use on here are also stolen from other blogs because I only took video while we were gone. What's up with that?! Actually I took some pics on my phone but I'm not sure how to upload them at the moment. ANYWAY, where was I?

The rest of the week we just hung out. It was fun spending time with the sisters in law and the nieces and nephews that were consistently hyped up on candy ;) I got to listen to Larry tell me 5,359 times that Kansas is a happy place to live. I must admit it's always a possibility, but change scares me!

Oh and there were also strange scenes I witnessed in Kansas, such as John running across hot coals in the fire pit. I had to supervise Larry to keep him from following his poor example.

And then there was Larry stuffing like a hundred marshmallows in his mouth...not so cool hun. (Kinda gross, sorry) Video to come-Unless I change my mind and keep that to myself.

Larry spent much of his time fixing up his mom's car. Turns out, he's a great mechanic! Not that I doubted, but hey, it's good to know that his skills are endless.

On Saturday (March 28), Blake & Jordan were married on a white, snowy day. It was a really nice ceremony performed by President Knapp. (Larry's Bishop growing up-now Stake President). We're so happy to have our army guy, Blake, in the family. He's an awesome brother in law. Jordan & Blake are way cute together.

On Sunday, Larry made his special chicken Marsala dinner. It was great. Then the kids had an Easter egg hunt...I was proud of my Easter egg hiding abilities. The kids were really cute finding them.

Our niece Abbi ate a bunch of candy and got sick...turns out she wouldn't feel well after that point. On Monday we drove back to Colorado. Abbi kept telling us she felt sick. This made me worry of course. Well I was busy blowing my nose the whole way home and could hardly breathe. I came down with a bad cold a couple days before. This proved to be somewhat of a blessing. Abbi spewed partially digested Doritos and strawberry milk everywhere in the back seat (did I do a good job at making that sound disgusting?)

Larry was the closest target. We pulled over as I started to gag. I jumped out of the car hopping around in the snow on one foot. I couldn't find my other shoe. Clara threw the puked on car seat onto the side of the road because there wasn't any room left in the car to put it.

Well, we made it back to their house for the night. Tuesday morning we flew back to Utah. It was good to see my puppies again. :) I'm back in school for the final days of the semester. Turns out I had a ton to catch up on...I've been cramming ever since but I got a ton done.

Oh, and on Wednesday, I had a terrible case of the stomach flu. I wonder why? All better now...Thank you for letting me steal pictures from your blogs.I should post some pictures of me and Larry on our trip...don't think I have any though!

Hey! What's with stealing my pics??!! Just kidding. Feel free to steal anytime. That's why they're there. I can't tell you how much we loved seeing you guys and I really enjoyed getting to talk to you and get to know you better Megan. BTW, I'm pretty sure Larry mentioned moving to Kansas closer to 8,908 times, you just lost count. Glad you made it back safe. I feel bad about Abbi puking on you guys, even if it made me laugh! I missed John walking on hot coals...will have to get a repeat performance next time. Good thing you kept Larry under control. They tend to just encourage each other. Look forward to he video of Larry stuffing marshmallows in his mouth. Can't wait to see you guys again sometime! Love you both!

What's with those crazies you call your in-laws, huh? I really am sorry about that crazy ride on the way home. Really gross, I know, but hey, when you have kids, it happens and there's not a lot you can do about it. I will say it's a lot better when just one of them gets the stomach bug-not all of them, that's really bad! John is kind of a bad example too. I would say I am sorry about that too, but he's a grown up (kind of) and he can take care of himself. I did have to come a long way before I felt I didn't have to interfere with all of his crazy ideas.
Oh, well. I really hope you had a good time, despite the craziness and the grossness. John's family really are a great bunch of rowdy people that do take some getting used to. But believe me, it's definitely worth it.
